This is the staircase to a little-seen basement room that shows the underside of one of the main boulders the house was anchored around.

 

I can understand why this room isn't on the main tour, it's extremely cramped, and is mostly interesting for the boulder sticking out of the walls. Tour staff uses it as a restroom and a place to hold their stuff.
