Uldale and Snooty Fox Inn

Small watercolour on manila paper. The large building is the Snooty Fox Inn in the village of Uldale. The name Snooty Fox indicates the long tradition of hunting in the area. Of course, in the fells they used to hunt on foot with the hounds. These northern fells are redolent with the tradition of John Peel - made famous in the song. His grave is in Caldbeck churchyard nearby.
