From their website: "The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vessel Yard has two piers and is located on Minnesota Point (901 Minnesota Avenue). The North Pier is 384 feet long by 20 feet wide and was rebuilt in 1940. The South Pier is 79 feet wide, 351 feet long on the south side/441 feet long on the north side and was rebuilt in 1948. The piers provide moorage for USACE Floating Plant including the Tug Donald L. Billmaier, Crane Barge Howard J. Schwartz, tender tugs, and Survey Launch 3045 as well as leased moorage for the US Environmental Protection Agency, the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and the University of Wisconsin-Superior. The primary purpose of the Vessel Yard is to support Duluth Area Office Floating Plant which conducts repairs on navigational structures throughout the Great Lakes."
