Mail Pouch Ghost Sign, New Trenton, IN
Ghost signage on a barn in New Trenton, Indiana. There are two ghost signs on top of one another. One is for Mail Pouch Chewing Tobacco and the other is for Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery. Dr Pierce’s Golden Medical Discovery was a licorice-flavored tonic that reportedly contained quinine, opium, and alcohol, and was advertised as giving men “an appetite like a cow-boy’s and the digestion of an ostrich.” Pierce products were still available as late as the 1970s.
