AN-E

Another piece of the puzzle slots into place. I have always lusted after a pair of Audio Note AN-E's and now they are mine!

These are DIY and feature professionally made Russian Birch Ply cabinets (as used by Audio Note in their higher end speakers). The drivers are genuine Audio Note whilst the crossovers are made to Audio Note specs. The stands are temporary and will be replaced by genuine Audio Note items once I have more funds.

How do they sound? Epic. Are they neutral? No. Are they fun? Hell yes! A lot of speakers aim for low colouration and neutrality. In achieving that goal, I feel they have to make sacrifices sacrifices; usually in dynamics, texture, palpability and musical ebb and flow. It's in these areas that the AN-E's come into their own. They get the big picture right by not obsessing over the little details.

My next acquisition will be an Audion Silver Night 300B mkII to go with the AN-E's. Needless to say, pictures to follow :-)
