373e a walk on the wild side ** Explore **

** Explore ** # 317 September 21, 2011 2 Explore shots today!

We were driving in the Smokies up the Clingman's Dome road this past weekend, and found this beautiful bear strolling along the side of the road. He was not at all concerned we were there-- just kept walking and looking for food.

Bears need to eat enough berries and nuts this time of year to gain 3-5 pounds a day, so they can hibernate properly. No wonder food is a priority!

He eventually just sauntered across the road in front of us, and walked away into the woods

Bears have been very active this year in the Smokies. See my Bears! set www.flickr.com/photos/25171569@N02/sets/72157627506776917/ for more views in teh woods and around the area
