Hieroglyphics and images seen at the Temple of Edfu, also known as the Temple of Horus, the falcon god. Many of the ancient Egyptian temples has all of the people's/ god's faces destroyed by conquerors, to try to limit the worship of gods they considered to be false. This one was not defaced (literally).
This relief is also remarkable in that few depict any sort of signs of affection, such as holding hands.
The Temple of Edfu
The Temple of Edfu is the second largest temple in Egypt. It is also known as the Temple of Horus (the falcon-headed God) and it is the most beautiful and well-preserved of all the Egyptian temples. Located between the Egyptian cities Luxor and Aswan, a French archaeologist by the name of Auguste Mariette uncovered it from its sand burial in the 1860s. www.ancient-egypt-online.com
