5860ex Santa Cruz Island Giant Tortoise

It is wonderful to see these giants in their own environment--- one they help shape. They dig out these depressions in the earth, which become shallow pools when the rains come.

 

There are 11 species of Giant Tortoises--- many are specific to only one of the Galapagos Islands.

We were fortunate to be able to travel once more, and this was a huge bucket list trip--- Peru and Ecuador, with highlights of visits to the rainforest, Machu Picchu, and the Galapagos Islands. Lots more photos to come in the upcoming weeks.....
