5713ex Galapagos Hawk-- intensity

Seen along the coast of Isla Rabida, Galapagos. (the red island---lots of iron oxide from the volcanic eruptions here)

 

This hawk is considered endangered-- only about 150 mating pairs are thought to be in existence. Loss of habitat has been a primary reason for their decline. They are only found in the Galapagos Islands.

We were fortunate to be able to travel once more, and this was a huge bucket list trip--- Peru and Ecuador, with highlights of visits to the rainforest, Machu Picchu, and the Galapagos Islands. Lots more photos to come in the upcoming weeks.....
