7223ex Canyonlands-- Needles area **Explore**
Canyonlands was created as a National Park in 1964, and expanded to its current area in 1971. It is composed of four very distinct "districts", none of which are accessible from the other. It is rugged sandstone, deep canyons, and rushing rivers within the state of Utah.
Much of the park is accessible only by off-roading and backpacking the rough terrain. Not exactly our style at this point in our lives....
This view is from one of the trails in the Needles district. Still lots of breathtaking views and amazing rock formations to be seen.
