4489ex P900 Southern Cassowary

These birds are quite intimidating with their sheer size and formidable claws. They are the 3rd largest birds in the world , after the ostrich and emu. They are also endangered-- less than 2000 are thought to still survive.

 

But their coloration is beautiful. You can really see how they appear to be close relatives to the dinosaur with the large casque ( horn-like structure) on the top of the head.
