3968ex2 P900 rosy dawn in the Smokies

Is it worth it to leave your cozy comfy bed at 5 AM to drive to the highest elevation in the Smokies to shoot a sunrise like this one? My answer--a resounding Yes!

 

We lucked out with one of the clearest views we have ever seen from Clingman's Dome. This is looking south east from Tennessee into North Carolina, across a "sea" of low hanging clouds in the valley..

 

The berries on the American Mountain Ash tree ( in the center of the wooded portion of the picture) had evidently just ripened. Gorgeous clusters of red fruits---- zoom in to see better
