Rookie sensation Dane Reynolds (Ventura, California, USA) (pictured) surpassed eight times Asp World Champion Kelly Slater (USA) as the highest scorer of the day at the Rip Curl Pro pres. Snickers at Winkipop, Victoria today posting an 18.73 (out of 20.00) during Round 3.
Reynoldss two wave combination of an 8.83 and a 9.90 (both out of a possible ten) saw him defeat former ASP World Champion CJ Hobgood (USA) to advance into Round 4. Reynolds takes on Roy Powers (HAW) in the next round.
The Rip Curl Pro is the second stop on the ASP Mens and Womens World Tours and includes the worlds top 45 full-time touring male and 17 full-time touring female professional surfers plus four wildcards. The event has a ten day waiting period but requires only four full days of competition for the men and two day of competition for the women to be completed.
