Centennials on the "CN"

The e/b "CN" or Colton Fruit, heads towards Walnut, CA on St. Patrick's Day 1970 behind a pair of DDA40X's, led by 6902, and a GP30B. Prior to the 8000 series SD40-2's, with the high speed gearing, GP30B's were a common "kicker" for the 6900's, especially after the hp on the DD's was lowered a bit. The symbol "CN", was a holdover from earlier days when blocks of perishables were picked up at Colton for forwarding east. While the "CN" continued making a Colton pick-up, perishables were no longer part of the manifest.
