Reverting to Nature
Sitting all alone in the little yard near the former Medusa Portland Cement Company in Dixon, Ill. Former M&STL HT #66271 rests and rusts away on July 10, 1989. The line from the CNW main down to the cement plant was rebuilt in the 80's by CNW using, among others, state funds with heavy rail and nice "pink lady" ballast. CNW even ran a special train behind a couple of the executive F's down here to help with the celebration. The ICG was gone by now, but the business here had all but dried up. Now the line is totally gone and the plant moth-balled by the current owner.
