UP X-3674E @ Blue Cut

The eastbound "SPBN", or West Colton to Yermo manifest, climbs Cajon on July 9, 1983. SD40-2's 3674 3618 lead WP GP35u 3019 at Blue Cut, between Cozy dell and Keenebrook. The WP has been gone for just about 7 months, and the power from the WP has been flung system wide. Rebuilt by M-K in 1980, 3019 will be painted in UP colors and receive new number 797 at North Platte in December of 1983. It will eventually find its way back to California and will labor on for ten more years before becoming one of many locos wearing WAMX reporting marks, as WAMX 3511. The SPBN and counterpart BNSP were basically shuttle trains between the SP's West Colton yard and UP's yard at Yermo.
