Northern Lights - Aurora Borealis
In Edmonton, facing East, taken out of my 2nd floor window in September, 1987. The Northern Lights were so bright I could see them from inside my apartment with the kitchen lights turned on. I opened the window, pushed out the screen and cranked off three consecutive shots while the aurora rose up, twisting and dancing like a snake out of a basket. This is the third of three frames. Made to order, Jupiter was also rising in the top right corner of the frame. ASA 100, 20 second exposure, using a Canon A-1 & 50mm FD lens.
