This Mansion, Down Grange House, off Winchester Road, was used as the councils architects office during the 1970's before becoming a restaurant.
Following a £600,000 renovation to what was a Brewer’s Fayre Restaurant, Down Grange House reopened as a Toby Carvery on June 13 2011 creating 30 new jobs.
Toby Carverys allow you be re-create your perfect roast dinner. the aim is to give you ample choice from three freshly roasted joints, including; roast beef, gammon and tender turkey. If you like vegitables then a fresh selection of eight steamed seasonal vegetables and a selection of roast meal trimmings like giant Yorkshires, stuffing and gravy.
Behind the building is The Walled Garden which is a delightful ‘secret’ garden dating back to the 1800’s, when it once served as a kitchen garden to Down Grange House. Today it operates as a public garden and wildlife area. Original features still remain today, such as the formal yew hedges, the croquet lawn and gothic gates. The Garden is an idyllic location for wedding receptions and private functions and hosts a series of popular family events throughout the year.
The building is set in parkland that is part of the Down Grange Sports Complex which was Down Grange Farm prior to 1970.
