Black Redstart. (Phoenicurus ochruros).

 

 

There is a mantra in bird photography which is, 'always have the sun coming from over your shoulder' or 'your shadow should always point towards the bird except for backlit shots.' I say 'naaa stick ya rules..do what floats your boat and not someone else's.'

 

The slightly mottled background is just a product of compression. The uncompressed image has a perfectly smooth appearance.
