Black Grouse.

Back in 201,1 I was privileged to visit a Black Grouse lek on a private estate in Yorkshire. I was able to view the birds lekking from a portable hide. The hide was set up the day before and a very early morning visit made long before the birds were due to appear to ensure no disturbance. The birds visited the lek when it was near impossible to see them. I could only see their white tail feathers moving about as the birds hissed and made their bubbling sounds. Then the light got brighter but still not suitable for photography but it did not bother me. The experience was out of this world and went far beyond what I expected...it was truly magical to be amongst the birds as they performed their ritual. Without doubt one of the best nature experiences I have enjoyed.
