"Shibboleth", the Tate-Modern Crack

The famous crack in the Tate Modern floor. A brilliant, courageous, generous piece of thought-provoking art. How it was done, I couldn’t imagine. When it had served its time, the Tate (equally bravely) filled it in. I went up on the gallery to try to get a meaningful shot ... The trouble with people wandering around is, they will insist on leading their lives at THEY want, and not as someone trying hard to take a photograph, might wish. In the end I captured this composition of a mother and child briefly thinking their own separate thoughts.

(Shibboleth - a belief distinguishing a particular group of people, regarded as outmoded)
