Maiden trip
VMV released Union Pacific's rebuilt A-B-A set of E units in the spring of 1993, working their way west on April 27 from St. Louis across Missouri on the Sedalia Subdivision.
Union Pacific had their company photographer following the train, making several stops along the way to document the rebuilt locomotives. Here, the train is posed for the cameras along the banks of the Missouri River in Hermann. The UP chase crew secured track and time on the adjacent mainline for the company photographer to setup his huge camera on the south track that shot 8x10 negatives. UP was friendly to the other railfans chasing the train, allowing us on the mainline to make our photos as well.
