The joint part of the Joint Line
When ATSF and DRGW combined a majority of their mainlines between Denver and Pueblo in 1918, the three flyovers ATSF was forced to build over the DRGW were eliminated. The middle flyover of the three at Spruce is shown here, with a southbound loaded coal train coming off the former ATSF and onto former DRGW rails. The concrete abutments of the old flyover are near the eighth car of the train.
