Broken heart

I made this pendant quite a while ago, when it seemed that everything in my life was going wrong. So I took it out on metal.

 

First, I whacked at it with a heavy hammer until the metal hardened and cracked, forming the break. Then, I annealed it and began to work it with hammers and dapping punches to give it volume and shape. Quite a symbolic piece for me. Makes me feel like an angsty artist, you know.
