St. Thomas - View from Paradise Point
The view from Paradise Point. It is about 700 feet (215 m) above sea level, the highest point on St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. It is at the top of the "Skyride" cable car. I bought a placemat with this view on my last time in St. Thomas.
Three cruise ships are docked at the West India Company dock in the foreground. From right to left, they are Celebrity Equinox (our ship), Carnival Valor, and Adventure of the Seas (Royal Caribbean). Havensight Mall is by the ships.
Charlotte Amalie, the main city of the U.S. Virgin Islands, is at the right. Fort Christian and the old part of the city are near the dark green area to the right. The main shopping area is to the right center. Crown Bay, the secondary cruise ship port and perhaps the main cargo port, is in the left background. It is about 3 miles (5 km) away, straight-line.
Part of Hassel Island is at left. It was once part of the port's defenses. It is now mostly a protected park area.
