Effeltrich - St. Georg from Air (Postcard)

St. Georg, a fortified church (Wehrkirche or Kirchenburg) in Effeltrich, from the air. The walls were built in the late 1400s, the church somewhat earlier.

 

A "1000-year-old" linden tree is across from the church, at the top of the photo. It has been pruned over the years, and is heavily supported. It is at least 800 years old.

 

I took a photo of the tree when I was in Effeltrich, but it did not come out well.
