Stele with Seth
Egyptian artisans often represented the god Seth, who murdered his brother Osiris in hopes of gaining control of his throne, as an enigmatic animal associated with the desert. Scholars has identified this animal with various creatures, including the donkey, the oryx, the greyhound, the camel, the okapi ... non of these associations, however, seems plausible given the visual evidence, in all probability the Seth animal was a creation of the Egyptian imagination, rather than a representation of a living species.
