Rabbit bot fly (Cuterebra buccata)

My little prize has emerged. I snapped some photos and then preserved this one in alcohol. It will be a prize specimen for parasitology teaching collection. It is a rabbit bot fly (Cuterebra buccata), and the larva was collected by Randy Lawson. I took the larva into captivity and let it pupate underground in sand. Photographed in Chadron, Nebraska on April 15, 2017.
