Big Kmart Augusta
This K-mart was originally a W.T. Grant (Grant City). Its auto center eventually closed and is now used as a seasonal department/garden center. The store was converted into a Big Kmart. The small store still looks old inside with low ceiling, exposed water pipes and HVAC ducts. It features a mix of Big Kmart era and newer Sears-based signage. While the store survived multiple rounds of closings, it eventually was on the list to be closed in August 2019 with the only other store in Maine in Auburn. The closing of this store in December 2019 will mark the end of Kmart in Maine.
