Turkish children at Festival REPOST

***** As the shocking and tragic news emerged from the Istanbul Airport, I was outraged at the senseless acts of terrorism that we are increasingly seeing in Turkey, France, Belgium, the USA, etc. My heart goes out to the victims and their families and friends in Turkey, and around the world. I looked desperately for an image I had taken in Turkey, my last visit being almost twelve years ago, to find something to Post today. I decided upon this image of innocent children, proudly displaying their Turkish heritage at a festival in Turkey in 2004. Of course, I have no idea whether any of these children (now young adults), or their friends or family, were impacted by this tragedy.....but I hope we will all pause, offer our condolences to the people of Turkey....and renew our resolve to do all we can to end this barbaric terrorist killing!

Below is my original post when I first posted this image: ....

I took this image on color slide film in 2004. I did not know that there was to be a festival in the public area this day, but when I saw the children I really wanted to photograph them. I speak no Turkish and they almost no English, but, with a smile, they began to pose for me. The costumes were very colorful and I may publish a color version soon. It isn't too terribly sharp, either, as I was not carrying a tripod and it was early evening...thus, a slow shutter speed.
