Towards Mametz

On the escarpment above the Somme river at Vaux, a crisp winter's morning looking north-west towards Fricourt and Mametz. This area marked the southern limit of the British Army in 1916. On the other side of the Somme, across the Etangs de Fargny, lay the French Army.
