This shot is dedicated to my Mum. Happy Birthday for tomorrow Mum! She is working voluntarily in Uganda, Africa, for three months. It is for a small charity called Mikwano, African for 'Friend'. I know she will be a bit embarrassed, which is exactly why I wanted to dedicate this one for her, and to say how proud I am to be her son. She is doing some great work there, and putting her nursing skills to great use. For anyone interested in the subject, then visit her blog at,

On to the shot, and this one was taken at Nanven, in the Cot valley, Cornwall. A real favourite of mine. The light always seems to be amazing down there, as are the rocks. Also known as Dinosaur Egg beach, it has these incredible rounded egg shaped rocks all over the place. The rest of the rock is equally bizarre, sculpted by the tide into swirls and miniature landscapes.
I was so chuffed to catch the pink light at sunset, as all too often the dreaded cloud curtain over the horizon is there to blank out the sunset just at the crucial moment. Sorry Tony (midlander) to go on about how nice it was :) (know you wanted to be there)
I manually blended three shots as the lighting was pretty contrasty. I kept the Aperture a bit less closed off to avoid some diffraction and keep things sharp. I hope you like it, and thanks for the continued support, I really appreciate it all.
17-40mm, Singh Ray 3 stop Reverse Grad, 0.6 s Lee Gnd.
Exposure: 3.2
Aperture: f/18.0
Focal Length: 20 mm
ISO Speed: 50
