Early Settlers Church

Christ Church, an Anglican church built in 1853 and the oldest church in greater Wellington, New Zealand. By 1850 Taita was a small farming community of around 30 families (the first immigrant ship having arrived at nearby Petone Beach 22nd January 1840). The pioneering families felt it important to have a church and the first service was held 1 January 1854. Built in a Gothic Carpenter style seating 75-85 people.
