Cased Girl In Red ? Not Exactly

This cased image of a little girl with hand tinted dress, was with several others that I purchased a few months ago. The cover glass was dirty, so I took everything apart to clean it. Much to my surprise, what I thought was a tintype, was actually an 1860's CDV that had been trimmed and placed in front of the original tintype of a dog. A border collie, perhaps?
