Swivel Breech Percussion Rifle By Samuel Loudenslager
A two shot percussion rifle with barrels that rotate into firing position. The same hammer and double-set triggers are used to fire each berrel. The maker was Samuel Loudenslager of Mexico, Pennsylvania. It dates from the 1850's or 1860's. Samuel was one of several Loudenslager gunsmith/gunmakers who worked in that area.
The small lever/pushbutton on the sideplate is pushed to unlock the barrels so they can be rotated. Most swivel breech rifles had the lever on the underside, just ahead of the trigger guard.
