427 SOHC - 1955 Ford
This '55 Ford Club Sedan "Gasser", was photographed in the pit area at the 2016 Meltdown Drags, Byron, Illinois. It was completed only two days before this event, so there is still a lot of sorting out to do. I did watch it make a pass in the mid-10 second range, so it does run pretty well. The engine is a rare-as-hens-teeth single overhead cam 427 Ford FE, from the 1960's. These were around 650 hp without modifications.
