V8 60 Powered Midget
This vintage midget race car was built in 1947, using a full race 1937 Ford V8 60 engine. The V8 60 was a scaled down version of Ford's 85 hp flathead V8 engine of that period. They were sold as an economy engine in full sized Ford cars. They were a bit underpowered in that form, but became very popular with midget racers. In a vehicle that weighed less than half the weight of the car it came in, these little engines were screamers on the oval tracks.
