He is listed in the 1880 census in Buda, Bureau County, Illinois, but seems to have been in Kewanee, Henry County, both before and after that time. He was for many years in partnership with Swedish born photographer Andrew Johnson, as Johnson & Wilson, in Kewanee. Wilson is listed as a photographer in Kewanee in the 1900 census.
