Karl Eskelsen is listed in the 1900 census as a photographer in Mt. Carroll. He was born in Germany in November of 1859. His wife Martha, was born in Illinois in October of 1859. Their two sons, Elmer, aged 18, and Ralph, aged 10, were both born in Illinois.
