Upper River Battery - Fort Donelson
The guns used to defend Fort Donelson, on the Cumberland River, were quite different than the field artillery previously pictured. These were huge cannon, designed to sink ships. Note the circular "railroad track" around these guns, allowing them to quickly pivot as needed.
