Valdez Harbor

The Valdez harbor had an incredible backdrop with the snow covered mountains.

 

 

This is the "new" harbor that was built after the deadly earthquake in 1964. It was North America's largest earthquake on record. It wiped out he townsite of Valdez, Alaska. The town in its entirety was relocated 4 miles to a safer location on more stable ground. More than 50 buildings were moved and all other structures were burned and the ground razed
