Santa Fe National Cemetery

I love old cemeteries but there is nothing more breathtaking and sobering than seeing a National Cemetery with all the white marble headstones all lined up in unity. This was a quick shot from the passenger seat as we drove through Santa Fe, New Mexico on our way to Denver.

Santa Fe National Cemetery is a national shrine which serves as a reminder of the untold histories of the veterans who helped preserve our freedom. Headstones and monuments commemorate and honor the lives and services of those who contributed to the growth, development and preservation of the Nation.

There are 147 national cemeteries across the United States. More than 3.7 million people, including Veterans of every war and conflict, are honored by burial in VA's national cemeteries. Over 19,000 acres of land are devoted to the memorialization of those who served this nation.
