Backyardigans Birthday Party Birthday Cake
I thought it would be cute to have the Backyardigans having a birthday party on the birthday cake. I was really pleased with my creativity only to find I wasn't the first person to have the same idea, LOL! Covered in fondant with fondant and gumpaste decorations. The figures were purchased online.
I put the fondant on early yesterday morning after the cakes had settled overnight. Then I didn't stack and decorate until many hours later. By this morning the fondant on the bottom tier was buckling! (see note) I can't figure out why that occured, but I am pretty sad about it. It was really humid and the fondant seemed sort of soft still, do you think the humidity could be a problem? I have only had this happen one other time and I think it was due to the cake settling. Any ideas?
