Not Going To Plan

70 809 powers away from Nottingham, after a change of driver, working 6M57, the 07.01 from Lindsey Oil Refinery to Kingsbury.

Cross Country unit 170 106 will shortly depart with train 1V07, the 10.06 to Gloucester.

It certainly wasn't my intention a couple of hours earlier to get this photograph, or indeed travel to Nottingham, as I was booked to travel on the 08.00 LNER service from Kings Cross as far as York! Unfortunately however there had been a fatality near Stevenage, so I quickly made my way to St Pancras with the intention of travelling to Sheffield on the 08.03 service. Damaged overhead wire problems though on the Midland Main Line meant that East Midlands Railway were running a reduced service and this particular Sheffield service was a non-runner.

Just wanting to get on the move I opted for the 08.06 train to Nottingham, where I had around 25 minutes to take this photo, pop to the Gents and get a cup of coffee, before a two hour journey to Leeds on a Northern service via Sheffield and Barnsley. At Leeds I only had fifteen minutes to wait for a direct Northern service to York, which I just managed to get thanks to a last minute change of platform - platform 11D to platform 12D is a long way via the station footbridge!

Arrival at York was around 1 o'clock, where it was straight into The York Tap for a couple of pints!
