GBRf electro-diesel 73 962 'Dick Mabbutt' heads on the Up Slow line through platform 3 at Purley, working Network Rail test train 1Q69 from Tonbridge West Yard to South Croydon.
The train, top and tailed with 73 962 'Janice', had spent the morning covering lines in Kent. After a reversal at South Croydon, it would head back down through Purley (see next upload) before heading to Guildford via Redhill and covering lines in Surrey and south west London. Finally it would run via the lightly used freight route through Dudding Hill Junction to the Midland Main Line and head back to it's base at Derby.
