Calendar Event

For several years now, some colleagues at another company that I deal with, have produced a small number of desk calendars featuring different types of traction on the railway network. Generally it's trains which are being phased out, to be replaced by newer models.

This years calendar features 'Sprinter' diesel units, which has a couple of my photos. Next year the theme is 'Networker' electric units. I think in the 30 odd years they've been operating I've only photographed one of them, crossing the River Medway at Maidstone. This image was duly submitted earlier in the year. When a reminder was sent out last week that the closing date for submissions was the end of November, I thought I'd make an effort to double my number of photos.

So here we have South Eastern 'Networker' unit 465 183, leading an 8 coach formation into platform A at Waterloo East, with the 09.34 Charing Cross to Gravesend service. Very little effort on my part as I only had to pop out from work for around 10 minutes to get this shot. Waterloo East has it's four platforms 'numbered' A, B, C and D to differentiate from it's much bigger cousin served by South Western Railway.
