April 2010

Signing up bone marrow registry participants.

Photo submitted by: Ms. Rae Lynn Mitchell, director of communications and development at the Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health. Last year during National Public Health Week, students at the School of Rural Public Health participated in a number of activities to promote public health, including a bone marrow/blood drive and a fun run. The photo above shows a student at the school working at the bone marrow registry, which helps doctors find donors for their patients in need of life-saving transplants. The school will be hosting a drive during National Public Health Week 2010, as well.
