One of the city's most beautiful mosques is that of Sidi Saiyyed, an Abyssinian who was in the service of one of Sultan Shams-ud-Din Muzaffer Shah III's generals. It was completed in 1573 and is notable for its magnificent stone latticework windows, known as 'jaalis'. The one seen in this photograph is the most celebrated of them.
