Heidelberg

The partially ruined Schloss (Castle), situated on Konigstuhl Hill overlooking Heidelberg, was the seat of the Electors Palatine for over 400 years, until it was devastated during the War of the Palatinate Succession (1688-97). This photograph shows three of its towers: the Glockenturm (Bell Tower) on the right; the Apothekerturm (Apothecary Tower) in the middle; and (on the left) the partially collapsed Pulverturm (Powder Tower).
