Delphi
Delphi's Archaeological Museum contains a wealth of treasures excavated at the site of Ancient Delphi, just next door. Without a doubt, it is one of Greece's finest museums of classical art and antiquities. This photograph is of a detail of the most famous piece by far in the museum's collections, a bronze statue known as the 'Charioteer'. An extraordinarily accomplished work of art, it was dedicated by the Sicilian tyrant Polyzalos following his triumph in the Pythian Games of 478 or 474 BC.
